Power outage kit: light, food, water, and a radio
Updated: 2 days ago
This is a shopping list, not one box. Add each item on its own. The $1,799 EMP kit is a different product.
When the power is out, start with light you can wear. Then food you can eat cold, water you already stored, and a radio that does not need the cell network.
1. Light — Rothco Cree LED Headlamp

$15.99. This is the flashlight for a blackout. Strap it on so both hands stay free. A phone light dies when you need the phone.
Flashlights also for sale
These two are weapon lights. They mount on a firearm rail. They are real flashlights, and they are in the shop. They are not the light you use to find a breaker or cook.

Streamlight TLR-1 HL-X — $244.47. Up to 1,500 lumens on the rechargeable pack, or 1,000 lumens on two CR123A batteries. About 1 hour at 1,500 lumens. It attaches to a rail-equipped firearm.

SureFire X300U-A — $379. 1,000 lumens. Mounts on Universal or Picatinny rails on a handgun or long gun. Two 123A lithium batteries are included.
2. Food — MRE case

One case is 12 meals. Eat them cold, or use the flameless heater. The heater needs a little water.
$115 once. About $9.58 a meal.
$97.75 a month for one case. About $8.15 a meal.
$148.75 a month for two cases. About $6.20 a meal.
Two cases bought once: $175.
3. Water

Store it before the outage. One gallon per person per day is the minimum. A full 5-gallon carrier is about 42 pounds.
4. Radio — Baofeng UV-5R

$24.99. In the United States you can listen without a license. Transmitting needs the proper FCC license. This radio is not certified for FRS or GMRS. The small LED on the radio is not your house light.
Buy these four
Not a bundle. Four separate products.
Those four are $168.97 before tax and shipping if you buy the MRE case once. Skip the weapon lights unless you already have a rail to put one on.
Ships in the US. 30-day guarantee.
